Shape FAQs

How do you come up with my body shape?

Your body shape is determined by your measurements. This is not a size but a proportional description of your figure—for instance, whether you have proportionately larger hips or a larger bust. A woman of any shape can be of any size and any size range: petite, average or tall. The shape is a guideline that we use to recommend styling details and looks that will flatter your figure. Within your Personal Shop™ we take into account your specific silhouette, your specific measurements and your personal fit and fashion preferences. No two shops—even those for women of the same shape—are alike because the styles and clothing selected are unique to your personal profile.

When you create your Personal Shop at MyShape, we find out your shape for you. Once you provide us with some key measurements, our patented ShapeMatch® system uses that data to determine your body shape and what styles and cuts would fit and flatter™ that shape.

What's the best shape to be?

There is no such thing as a best shape! No one shape is better than another, because this isn't a popularity contest. At MyShape our goal is to make shopping a breeze by taking the hassle out of finding the perfect fit. We aim to help every woman—whatever her shape, style or age—find clothes that fit her body well and compliment her shape in the styles she loves.

Will my shape ever change?

As we gain and lose weight, our bodies usually do so in proportion to our shapes. However, at certain times, depending on what is happening in your life—menopause or pregnancy, for example—the shape of your body can change. To ensure MyShape provides you with the best selection of clothing to fit your shape, we recommend that customers double-check their measurements every six months.

Can I guess what my body shape is?

Every woman has an idea of what her shape is. We look in the mirror every day and know our bodies better than anyone else, but MyShape's expert measuring system takes all your measurements into account.

We may think our hips are larger than our shoulders, therefore we are an A, or that we have a small waist and larger bust and hips, so we would consider ourselves an S. But just a few inches in the waist can make a difference between an S and an M or a Y and an H. Many women in the MyShape office are Ms, but if you lined up all the Ms in a row, you would see women of different sizes and heights. Remember, it's about proportion, not size.

By providing your measurements, you allow us to accurately determine your shape and find the best fitting garments for you. Our ShapeMatch system chooses the most flattering cuts for your body and provides you with the correct size recommendations based on your preferences.

What if I don't agree with the shape I'm given?

There are some figures that are in between the seven key shapes or have aspects of two. Our first suggestion is to go back into your profile and double-check your measurements. Sometimes there is a typo or an incorrect measurement that, when fixed, will change your body shape (especially if the shoulder circumference measurement is off).

Customer Care is happy to review your measurement data with you and will gladly change your shape if you are feeling one shape more than another.
